Important People to the CrusadesPope Urban II was important to the Crusades because he had the power to control the attacks on the Byzantines in Greece and have the moved so the Arabs were getting attacked by the Normans instead. He removed he threat to the western border and got troops to defend the eastern border.Saladin was also important to the Crusades. He was important for being a Muslim leader during the Third Crusade. He also assisted in the capture of Jerusalem in 1187.Lastly, King Richard the Lionheart was important to the Crusades. He was important for being a brave and chivalrous leader during the Third Crusade to fight against Saladin.

Important Sites of the Crusades
Some important places to the battles of the Crusades were as follows. Of course Jerusalem was an important site of the Crusades because it was the central city of religion, the city originally up for capture at the beginning of the battles. Also, Acre, Antioch, Edessa, and Constantinople for simply being major cities effected by the battles, having to do with the change in economy, and having battles take place there.
